Your Exotic Bird Source

You can always tell when Niko is in a great mood. She whistles, and does a great job of it too! Several years ago, she heard the theme to "Andy of Mayberry" and memorized the entire song! So now, every morning, and every evening, we have come to realize that nobody in the aviary has a TV, it's just Niko whistling her morning and evening song!

I thought it would be great to teach her a new song, so, for the past several months, everytimg she rides around on my shoulder, I whistle the Star Spangled Banner. She whistles along with the last half, but is still learning the first half. Blue fronted Amazons are great talkers. The more time you spend with her, the more words she learns, although her favorite form of communication is whistling. Her tone, and note control is absolutely fantastic.

She's a bit shy around strangers, but once you get to know her, you have a friend for life!

Niko likes to ride in the car. Here she checks out the tunes from the CD to make sure they are up to her speed before she gets in!
